Many
of you will be already aware that for sometime we have been looking to extend the
business by offering Dog Grooming, finances have not allowed us to take this
step, however after months of ear bashing I have finally convinced Pamela to take
on additional clients and offer her present service to our clients until we can
set up a salon here at the crèche.
Some of you will already
be aware that Pamela has been grooming pet dogs for over 18 years, having taken
on in more recent years some horrendous cases from Carrie’s behaviour practice.
These have been dogs that have been turned away from other groomers due to
severe aggression, with patience and understanding Pamela has helped these dogs
overcome their fears and phobia’s of being brushed, bathed or even touched.
On
arrival you will be asked routine questions about the dog’s health and
temperament, going on to discuss styling requirements.
The “grooming” normally follows the procedure described
below.

- Brief check of coat condition and general health
- Pluck and clean ears as required
- Trim nails as required
- Groom out, de-matt, clip depending on breed type
- Bath in appropriate shampoo (condition if necessary)
- Blow dry & style as requested
Each dog is an individual
and the service is tailored to suit that dog and their owner. Pamela works on a
one-to-one basis and provides a calm environment to ensure each visit is as
stress-free as possible.
A file is kept for each dog, detailing all aspects of each visit. Any problems
noted with regards to health or behaviour will be reported immediately to the
owner. An honest account of how the dog coped with the experience will always
be relayed to the owner.

dog in a hurry ……….
This service is not suitable for breeds with long coats or short coated breeds
casting coats.
Prices from £12 to £25 based on
size and coat condition.
We can also accommodate
baths that are prescribed by a vet with their permission.
Treat your pet to a
soothing wash using the very best nutrient-rich conditioning shampoos which add
a healthy shine and softness to the coat. After bathing your pet will be towel
dried before finishing off with the appropriate specialised drier which ensures
the undercoat is fully dry.
Our Brushing service can
benefit long coated breeds. Matting is usually caused by wetness in the coat
either through rain, wet ground/grass, swimming or friction from wearing a
collar and can occur from any activity such as playing or walking. Dogs Buddy
uses specialised Brushing equipment, conditioners and combs to restore your
pets coat and keep it healthy. Brushing is recommended every 1-3 months. If
left unattended matting can cause skin irritation and discomfort possibly
leading to infection.
For long haired dogs! Hair
covering the eyes impairs their vision causing them to see the world in a
different perspective, ultimately causing behaviour issues. It is essential
that the hair covering the eyes is kept short to prevent this occurring a
fringe trim is recommended once the hair begins to cover the eyes.
Professional Nail and Paw
care is important because if left unattended these areas can cause great
discomfort to a dog. Clipping the fur between toes and pads minimises future
tats and stops debris collecting. This is particularly important when grass
seed is prevalent. Inactive old dogs need nails checking frequently and dogs
leading an active lifestyle require nail trimming and paw care approximately every
6 to 8 weeks depending on breed.
Our ear care service
involves the gentle cleaning and trimming of the ears. Dogs with folded ears
benefit most from ear care as the fold in the ear creates an ideal breeding
ground for bacteria. Any excess ear hair is gently removed to help keep the ear
dry and prevent build up of dirt. Dogs with heavy drooping ears have the
underside clipped short and the outside is trimmed of bulky hair to achieve a
lighter ear with better air circulation. It is very important to check in ears when
dogs are exercised in long grass.
