MISSION STATEMENT

Cleveland Canine’s Crèche is committed to providing a safe, cage free, healthy fun day care for dogs. We strive to improve the quality of the lives of the dogs within our care by actively encouraging mental and physical stimulation.

When you first register with the crèche we will take all your dogs details including feeding regime, daily exercise, health records including copies of vaccination certificate, dates of worming and flea treatment, the veterinary practice that your dog is registered with and emergency contact details. An individual day care plan will be devised taking into account your dog’s age, level of fitness, state of health and your particular requests. We generally ask you to feed your dog before bringing him or her into the crèche and then again on your return home, where a puppy or elderly dog requires a feed during the day we like you to bring his/her own food in. This stops upset tummies. Basic coat care and daily brushing can be arranged where required.

Here are a few things we get up to during the day:

Shredded paper treat hunt - This helps keep the dogs stimulated and busy. This helps then channel their innate sense of smell. Once they have sniffed out the treat they then get the ultimate reward – eating the treat. All the dogs love this activity and with enough treats to go around there are rarely any squabbles.

Sandpit and paddling pool - All dogs love to either play in water or to dig. With the sandpit and paddling pool the dogs are allowed to exhibit natural behaviours which some owners may find unacceptable or inappropriate at home.

Toys - We have such a wide range in toys that dogs will never get bored. We have toys ranging from tennis balls to footballs, Soft squeakys to hard rubber chews and a big selection of knotted tug ropes. With our toys ranging from small to medium to large no dog is ever left without the opportunity to play with a toy of it’s choice

Paw painting – The ultimate activity! The dogs (and staff) love paw painting. Each dog dips a paw into a pot of non-toxic paint then hey presto they are off, using a rainbow of colours the end result is fantastic – even if it makes a real mess – after all the staff have to clean up not the dogs. All the art either goes on our walls, made into cards for special occasions or taken home.

Hugs and cuddles - All dogs love attention! Throughout their day each dogs receives loads of loving attention from our caring staff as well as that extra bit when they really need it.

Wind chimes, music, scented candles and aromatherapy – Listening to classical music, different sounds and sniffing a variety of scents helps stimulate and relax your dog.

Story time – Towards the end of each day all the dogsare encouraged to settle around a crèche carer who reads a story to them.

Due to the stimulation from all the different activities, constant running around and playing that goes on each day your dog usually goes home completely exhausted, sleeping soundly on their return home giving you piece of mind that your dog really has had a wonderful day!

BE WARNED THEY MAY NOT WANT TO COME HOME!

24 Hour and Home Boarding

Many dogs are not equipped to deal with the stress of being kennelled whilst their owners are away from home. 24 hour and home boarding provides a very nice alternative to kennels.

Dogs can either stay with a member of staff in their own home over night then come into the crèche through the day or a member of staff will stay over night at the crèche. If staying at the crèche once closed your dog will have free access to the entire building until bedtime (10-11pm) when they will be settled in their own warm, cosy bedroom, fit for a princess or prince. Next morning it’s an early start as they have to be up and ready for the other dogs being dropped off, hence after getting up and having an opportunity to go to the toilet they are given free access whilst their bed is made before having breakfast. An extremely popular service 24 hour and home boarders are booked well in advance so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Requirements

In order to keep Cleveland Canine Crèche a fun and safe environment for your pet, all dogs and owners must adhere to the following requirements:

      1. Call In – With your Dog!

You are invited to call in during opening hours with or without your dog, but be warned if you call in without him or her they will certainly be disappointed having missed out on an opportunity to play and interact with some doggy companions and all the activities. Our helpful staff we will be on hand to give you a guided tour of the crèche and all its facilities whilst your dog has a fabulous time.

      2. The Boring Bit

As with everything in life there’s always a downside, whilst your dog continues to play with his or her new doggy friends in the crèche, you can have a seat in reception and over a cup of tea or coffee complete the relevant paperwork.

      3. Vaccinations

It is essential that you bring your dog’s vaccination records for us to take a copy and keep on file. Alternatively your veterinary surgeon can fax a copy to us on 01642 601304

The vaccinations your dog must be covered for are:

                   Distemper
              Hepatitis
              Parvo-virus
              Parra influenza
              Leptospirosis

      4. Parasites

Your dog must be treated with veterinary prescribed and approved topical flea and worm treatment. Acceptable products are:

      o Frontline Combo / Frontline
      o Milbemax
      o Drontal / Drontal Plus
      o Stronghold
      o Advantix / Advantage / Advocate

      5. Neutered / Un-Neutered

We accept neutered and unneutered dogs and bitches

      6. Temperament Evaluation

We like to meet each dog prior to them being left for the first time this enables us to assess each dog’s individual needs and requirements as well as its overall suitability. This informal session usually takes place when you call into the crèche for the first time to view; it’s wonderful facilities and meet our caring staff; however we are more than happy to arrange this for another time if you are unable to bring your dog with you when you first call in.
